Do you sing before breakfast?

"If you sing before breakfast, you'll cry before supper." I'm still searching for anyone who has heard of this superstition. It never dawned on me until many years after Mom had passed away that she might have invented this superstition for me when I was small. Perhaps I rose up singing too often so early in the morning. I remember listening to records on my own record player, singing and making up songs, continuing into kindergarten, where my teacher wrote on my report card that I was her "songbird" as I sang all the time when transitioning from one activity to another.

I could hardly wait to turn 8 years old, when I would be able to begin taking piano lessons from Mrs. Doris Lee Frost. I counted piano lesson days and choir practice days among my favorite days. When I enrolled at the University of Kansas, I studied as a piano major with Dr. Jack Winerock.

While I enjoyed my music studies at KU, I switched majors, and earned my bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a Spanish minor.

My goal in 2021 was to finish some of the songs that I had begun to write, sometimes on paper, sometimes just in my head.  With this website I'm sharing for the first time some of my songs that voices have never shared.
